Mother left the house to me...PLEASE HELP!
My mother passed away and left me the beneficiary to her will. She left me her house which she owes the bank $86,000 on. The house really should be condemned and I will have a hard time selling it for what she owes. Do I have to take it? It is going to cost me at least $20,000 to fix the problems that it has, I don't have it. What should I do???

This is a tough one but not impossible. When you file an application to probate your mother's will in probate court, all her assets are listed. Her creditors will then file claims against her estate and whatever money they can get from her estate, they will take. The house will probably get liquidated. The house or the other assets that go through probate court isn't really yours until the estate debts are settled. If what you say is true, it is doubtful that you will be stuck with the house.
