my mother passed away resently and left no will. how much would it be to set up a estate.

The court filing fees are generally at least $125.00 to file the initial application to administer an estate. It varies from county to county, however. You have to call your local probate court clerk to find out the exact fee. There will also be attorney's fees if you need an attorney to assist you.
