property ownership after loss of spouse

My mother and step-father owned a house together when she passed away in 1995. He re-married 6 months later and put his new wife on the tittle in 1998, He passed away last month.My question is do we (children of the first wife) have any legal rights to the house or any of our mothers property.

If your mother gave the property outright (not in trust) to your step-father then you do not have any rights in the property. The only way your mother could have protected it for you (her children) would be to set up a trust.
