My sister has passed away and I am the executrix of her estate. Her checking account is POD to me. Does this money have to go through probate?

An account that is POD does not need to go through probate. You can take a copy of her death certificate to the bank and have the account transferred to you.

No, it does not go through probate and attorney Schmitz has explained how to have the account transferred to your name. In addition, I would add that the funds in the account are yours and are not liable for payment of estate debts.
