Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Spousal Rights after Marriage

My husband and I have been married almost a year. During our engagement, we built a house and everything was in his name. Now, he is going to refinance due to lower interest rates and was told that I have to sign a waiver of ownership in order to do this. What are the consequinses, if any, if I do this? He was also told that this was a new law.

Re: Spousal Rights after Marriage

That means that you will not have any ownership in the house. In otherwords, he can try to claim that it is a premarital asset in the case there is a divorce. Having you waive your dower interest is not a new law. Is there a reason you are not on the mortgage. If not why not!!
