can my step mother keep family heirlooms from me if there is no will after my father has deceased.

If your father died without a will you are entitled to a portion of the estate. How things are divided would be determined by the administrator. If no one has been appointed yet you might want to apply to be appointed administrator so you can have greater control over the division.
