my uncle passed away in November this year and I was told I was left everything. I have not had contact with him in 20 years and no one to ask in the family

You would want to go to the county probate court and see if an estate for your uncle has been opened. If there is an estate open, then there is a case number and a case file and in that would be his will (if he had one) and other court papers. If he didn't have a will, then intestate laws would govern and you most likely would not inherit if he has closer relatives that are still alive (i.e. his children, parents, grandparents). If no estate has been opened for you uncle, then you would want to open an estate but this assumes your uncle had a will that left you property. You would need to locate his last will and testament.

If you want to discuss your case further at no cost to you, feel free to contact me.
