no will
my father just passed away, he had no will i am the oldest child do i handle the money matters? does the assests get divided up between myself and my brother?

Either one of you can apply to become the executor of the estate. You are absolutely right that the estate is divided between you and your brother once the bills are paid assuming that your father did not have a wife.
