Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

will vs ira beneficiary

My grandfather recently passed away and his Will stated that his estate should be split 3 ways between, myself, my mother and my aunt. His IRA and Stock forms were never updated to reflect the 3 way split, just have my mother and aunt as the beneficiaries. Does the will since it was done last override the other documents

Re: will vs ira beneficiary

The will does not control assets which have designated beneficiaries. The beneficiary designation made by the owner of an asset creates a contract with the holder of the funds to pay the money to the designated beneficiary.
