Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

no will

After my mother was diagnosed with alzheimers 8 years ago, my sister tricked her into signing a power of attorney so she could control her money. After 3 years in nursing home and mom passed away with no will, my sister says there was nothing left. She had no assets, just nice income and $10,000 my sister transfered in her name. Do I just have to take her word?

Re: no will

No, you don't. An estate can be opened and assets accounted for. If she got the power of attorney after the diagnosis, it is possible that it is not valid because of her condition. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this futher. Edward Dicato
