a will versus a benificiary

my husband has his mother listed as a benificiary to a savings account and a life insurance policy but i am listed in the will to receive everything. does a will supsede a benificiary or does that stand seperate on its own as a legal obligation

The beneficiary designation takes precedence. The will controls only probate assets. Assets with designated beneficiaries pass by contract to the named beneficiary, and are not probate assets. Your husband's mother will receive the assets you describe unless the beneficiary is changed.
