Legal Question in Administrative Law in Oklahoma
work related in oklahoma (wal-mart)
wal-mart has three levels of ''write ups'' with one being verbal, two being written verbal, three decision day, and four being termination. i was giving a verbal written for my being absent of a total of seven times with two of those being i left halfway through my shift. also these absences are as old as January of this year. okay, i refused to sign and was told that if i didn't sign i would be giving a decision which consist of a paid day off to think and write an essay on why i shouldn't be fired. i'm simply wondering how wal-mart has the authority to fire me or give another write up for refusing to sign a write up? the reason i choose not to sign is because i felt i should have been disciplined for these months ago. i know i was absent and i'm not trying to contest that i'm just wondering how they can write me up again for refusing to sign and terminate me as well... i thought it was my option to agree or disagree as they have no problem with me agreeing but want to reprimand me more for being subversive... any answer or solution will help thanks... ps.. is this somethink i should hire a lawyer for?

Re: work related in oklahoma (wal-mart)
You are correct. You do have the right to agree or disagree. I also suggest that you provide a written statement to your employer as to why you disagree, notate the response or attachement on the reprimand and it is recommended that you do not sign it under these intimidating or duress circumstances. I also suggest that you provide proof to avoid hearsey and hire an attorney, if such employment conditions do, in fact, exist.
