Legal Question in Banking Law in Oklahoma

Bank cashing altered check
Remodel contractor sent invoice for work that had not been done as stated in the contract. My remittance check was marked with invoice number and paid in full. When check was cashed by my bank this had been marked through by contractor. Why did my bank accept an altered check?

The bank didn't know it was altered. If they sue you, you can raise the alteration as an issue. To be safe they should have sent the check back.
