can i file chapter 13 bankruptcy after a pretrial hearing?

I need to tread lightly with this question, as there are different kinds of pretrial hearings for different kinds of law suits.
If we're talking about a state court collection suit against you, then yes, you can file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy case after the pretrial hearing. You can file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy case also. You may or may not be able to get rid of a lien on your home.
Attendance at the pretrial hearing is a different question and outside the scope of bankruptcy.
