check deduction
Can GNC deduct money from a hourly employee's paycheck if the store is not open during business hours? i.e. The store should have opened at 10, but employee was an hour late, so they deducted a $1 a minute from the employee's paycheck.

We are sending this reply cautiously due to our need or further clarification surrounding your employment circumstances, i.e. was your tardiness a result of your inability to report to work? Or, was it for another reason? Are you an hourly employee are salaried employee? Do they have an approved disciplinary policy?
There are many questions that must be answered before we can provide a definitive response.
In the meantime, based on the information you provided, this is not an ethical or legal employment practice. Other disciplinary actions should have been an option or consideration in lewd of arbitrary deductions from your paycheck. I hope this helps.
