License or fee needed for karaoke or live bands?
Is a tavern owner required to pay fee or other monies for music used in karaoke or played by a live band in their establishment?

If the music is copyrighted, then yes. You are unlikely to be sued or prosecuted if you use it without paying, but if you are, you will be liable.
