Boyfriend Says I Owe Him Money

3 years ago a boyfriend gave me the money for an emergency surgery when breast implants ruptured in a car accident. We broke up 2 years ago. He told me that he did want to be paid back before, but now has been calling and harrassing me for money. Now he says that I owe him $1,000 more than the original cost. He has been violent with me in the past. I did not file charges but got away from him. I am uncertain what to do. I do not feel I owe him any money because I incurred a lot of medical charges from when he hit me in the face and left me with a jaw contusion, xrays, CATScan, etc.

If he truly GAVE you the money and there was no agreement that you had to pay the money back, then you are under no legal obligation to pay the money back.
