Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Oklahoma

civil

recently I was arrested for failure to comply. The matter started from a civil suit in which a financial co. was suing me for money I owed on a repossessed car. I do not remember recieving a summons on this matter. The arrest warraqnt was written in October of 2004. Police officers came to my home this past Sunday evening and placed me under arrest. I had no idea what I was being arrested for. When I askeda them if they had a warrant they told me they would show me when we got to the police station. The following day I went before the judge and was released on an or. I was ordered to show upo in court in about 2 weeks to settle this matter with this financial co. I had never been arrested in my life and this was extremely embarrassing to me and my family. Is this unusual to be arrested in a civil suit such as this?

Re: civil

Yes. Did they produce the warrant? Did they advise you of your rights to an attorney? Did they give you a copy of styled petition and service? And, the case number? Either way, I would recommend that you go to the county court, get a copy of your case and seek civil counsel and/or representation before going forward with this scheduled hearing.
