Representing yourself

If you have been served a summons and want to handle this case on your own and your summons says you must file a written answer to the attached petition in the court at the above address within twenty daysafter summons upon.Do we just write a written letter and attach it to this summons?In need of any help!

A letter is not an answer. An answer has a specified format, and responds to each of the issues raised in a complaint. It also contains any allegations you raise as an affirmative defense.

You can represent yourself in court, but I suggest that you get some help in drafting your answer.

Go down to court and look at other cases to get an idea of what you need to do, or better still, hire an attorney just to draft it for you.
