Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Oklahoma
Zoning laws & constitutional rights of property owners.
Where we live the town council has voted for everyone in city limits to remove all livestock from it. Some of the persons here have had animals on this land for years, I think they are going agenst all of constitutional rights as tax payers,, They are only targeting certan ones. We have 10 horses that we have bought and payed for, we feed them and they have plenty of water. The horses dont bother anyone in our area, we have 2 1/2 acres, and there is aggracultural area all in the same area, next door and across the road..I am a service conected disabiled veteran and my doctors told me to get involved in horses to help my mind. But I am talking on behave of a lot of others that are in this newly zoned area, We have until the 16 of April to do something or they will fine us $200.00 a day and or jail time. We do have a federal NO TRESSPASS sign on post on driveway in plain sight. Please tell us what we can do to put a stop to them, we can not afford to move to another place...these are the codes they are using..CITY ORDINANCES SECTIONS 4-101 THROUGH SECTIONS 4-112 PLEASE LET US NOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.WE FEEL IT IS AGENST OUR CIVIL RIGHTS, WE PAY FOR OUR PROPERTY & PAY OUR PROPERTY TAXES. PLEASE HELP.THANKYOU .

Re: Zoning laws & constitutional rights of property owners.
Sorry, but I can't be very encouraging here. There is no Constitutional right against zoning ordinances, at least not in the federal Constitution. Oklahoma's state constitution might offer you some further protections, or there might be state laws which you can invoke. But I see no Constitutional violation from the facts you have provided.
