Legal Question in Consumer Law in Oklahoma

Re: Water Meter Clarification answer

I sent a question yesterday about MY water meter. Yes the land is mine and the appenditures. But the account for the water was in my in-laws name as I was in Florida. This is not city water it is a rural community where we have to get our own meter from the company. The meter came with the property, so I didn't have to get one, then I was sold it at $650.00 by my in laws not realising the meter was already mine. Money they were suppose to take to the water comapny and pay for me to change the account into my name, but the didn't. I was new to the area and they offered to do that. But they just kept the money and kept the bills coming in their name. Now They are trying to have the meter pulled so they get another $650.00 back from the water company. So that would mean I have paid for the meter twice, and they get a refund and I have NO water

Sounds like you may have a claim against your inlaws. You could file a claim in small claims court by yourself by going to the courthouse, getting the forms and filing. You might then also inform the water meter folks in writing of what's going on, asking them to hold off on any meter removal until the claim is settled.
