civil judgement collections

I have a judgement against me from a hospital visit. they say I have to pay 152.50 a month or they will take further action. the udgement is for 1831.00. They said I could pay any amount but it would not stop further action. What do you suggest I can do I am 1 month behind on several bills. bankruptcy is not an option.

Re: civil judgement collections

If you support a family and the creditor files a garnishment, you can apply for an "undue hardship" exemption with the court. The court rountinely modifies the garnishment, i.e. reduce from 25% of your paycheck to maybe $50-75.00 dollars a month. If you can afford $50.00-75.00 a month, I would suggest pitching that to the creditor with the note about undue hardship.
