Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma
court ordered judgment issued against me
I just recieved papers today that 2 credit card companies have gotten a court signed judgment against me. I got the summons papers from their attorney but there was no court date so I called them and explained that I was not working because of a knee injury and my husband is disable and I could not pay. I was under the impresion they was not going to pursue it. So what do I do now. I did not know when the court day was or I would have appeared and talked to the judge and explained my situation so now what do I do? I an not able to pay and still have no job. We are just barley getting by as it is. What can they do if I do not pay? Can they affect my bank account and take what little money we do have?
Thanks

Re: court ordered judgment issued against me
If you owe the money, I suggest you attempt to work out an agreed payment plan,e.g. $50.00 a month or something that you can afford. You should try to payoff the judgment as quickly as possible, however, due to interest accumulating. If the creditor attempts to garnish a paycheck (in the future), you should file for an undue hardship exemption.
