Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma

law suit

I had a man from the district court show up with a summons telling me I'm being sued for a debt.

I did not personally take possession of the paper, he just left it at my door and the date and year of when it was served are blank.

Is this document still in order?

This credit card debt is five years old and has been shopped over to at least three debt management companies. I am in no financial posistion to make a settlement. What should I do?

Re: law suit

Consider that the process server will file his affidavit saying he served you. If you do nothing, a default judgment will be granted against you for the amount due plus interest and attorney fees. If you have a job, the creditor will eventually attempt to garnish your pay for 25%. If you have significant other old debts, you may consider filing for bankruptcy if you have not previously filed in the last eight years.
