Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma

I received a letter stating that I have to go to court next month regarding a hospital bill I had from my daughter being born. I owe around $6,000. There's now way I could pay that off now, but could make payments as long as it's reasonable. What steps should I take before the court date? Should I talk to their lawyer? Should I get a lawyer of my own? Is there any chance that I could work this out with the lawyer so I don't have to go to court? I wanna get this taken care of so I don't have to bother with it.

Usually the creditor is willing to work with a debtor. I would start by talking to the creditor's attorney and see if you can make some typ of arrangements. If you cannot work out a repayment plan then you might want to see about getting a lawyer to protect your interests.
