If you take no action, a default judgment will be entered against you. If you feel you have any defense to the Petition, then you need to file with the court clerk an "Answer" to the Petition that states your defense(s). A copy of your answer should be mailed to the Plaintiff''s attorney. All of this must be done before the answer deadline.
The inability to pay what is rightfully owed is not considered a defense. If that is the only "defense" you have, then there really is no point in filing an Answer. You should discuss your situation with an attorney. It is possible that you have a defense that you have not thought of, and an attorney can help you identify a defense.
