Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Oklahoma
At the first of the year I boorowed under $500 from a creditor in Oklahoma. I currently live in New Mexico n have had medical trouble recently,so I've had limited work through my job. So in turn I've fallen behind with my bills, including this creditor. So they are threatening to issue a bench warrant for me n to have me "extradited" back to Oklahoma to secure this loan. The money was borrowed against personal property as collateral. Is this possible or is my credit the only thing that could be afected?

Debt collectors often "mistate" the law when trying to "convince" debtors to pay their debts. No, you can not be extradited. Extradition is used only in criminal cases, and failing to pay a civil debt is not a criminal matter. A bench warrant can only be issued after you have been sued, a judgment has been obtained, you have been served with an order to appear before a court (such as for an "Asset Hearing"), and you have failed to appear. And in such a case, a civil bench warrant can not be enforced across state lines.
