Legal Question in Criminal Law in Oklahoma
My boyfriend was caught stealing from a retail store. He went to municipal court to plead guilty but the judge would not let him. They told him he was to plead not guilty and come back for another court date. Why did they do this and what should he do?

He should get a lawyer. I am not sure which city court he was in, but most judges will not let anyone plead guilty to a crime that carries possible jail time without an attorney.

Mr Ramey is exactly right. He is going to have to show up with an attorney on that new court date. I go to OKC Municipal Court almost every week. Give me a call if I can help.
