What does it mean when the court revokes the balance of a suspended sentence?

A suspended sentence is essentially jail time partially or entirely suspended. Therefore, when a suspended sentence is revoked by motion of the State, the remaining time left on a suspended sentence CAN become jail time. When the State files this motion, it does not necessarily mean the suspended time will become jail time. It is essential for people to contact a criminal defense attorney immediately if a motion to revoke has been filed on their criminal case.
