Re: death penalty
All crimes have minimum and maximum sentences that are imposed by state statute. The minimum sentence for a first degree murder in the state of Oklahoma is life imprisonment, whereas the maximum sentence is death. There is also another option and that is life imprisonment without parole.
It is possible to reach a plea agreement with the ditrict attorney's office in which you can avoid the death penalty by pleading guilty or nolo contendre. However, the judge is not required to accept the plea, and may reject the DA's offer.
