Legal Question in Criminal Law in Oklahoma

Deferred Sentence

I saw in a felony case where a defendent took a 5 year deferred sentence, that included 2 years under the supervision of the district attorney. What does that supervision time mean/entail?

Re: Deferred Sentence

Supervision under the district attorney's office is probation administered and supervised by that office, as opposed to unsupervised probation where the person does not report to any probation office or authority. There are rules and conditions of probation that a person must follow, and those rules and conditions can vary from person to person, so I cannot answer specifically what the supervision time will entail. Basically, at the end of 2 years, if the person has not had any probation violations, he or she will serve the remainder of the sentence on unsupervised probation (no reporting to the district attorney's office).
