Legal Question in Criminal Law in Oklahoma

Deferred sentence and firearm possession

In January of 2007 during a blind plea, I plead guilty to a charge of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. After a year of supervised probation and complication of all of my requirements, I went for a judicial review and received a deferred sentence. I am no longer under the supervision of the DOC. My question is can I now reclaim the firearms that I had to sign over to family during the time of the suspended sentence or am I permanently barred from possessing firearms.

Re: Deferred sentence and firearm possession

You cannot possess a firearm while on any type of probation in the state of Oklahoma. After your deferred sentence is over and assuming you do everything you are supposed to do and the judge dismisses the case, you can then possess firearms.
