Legal Question in Criminal Law in Oklahoma

False pretenses/representation

If one contacted me by e-mail, claiming to represent an entity suggesting employment opportunities, yet had nothing to do with them and persuaded me through deceptive lies, posing as someone else only for the purpose of obtaining my resume, which of course contains my name, address, phone number, Social number and other information, would this be considered as criminal and what could be the punishment if so?

Would the uneasiness and discomfort felt by me, caused by this party obtaining this information through deception and lying be grounds of possible civil lawsuit as well?

If possible, would you kindly be able to provide the legal codes and/or whatever information you can.

I appreciate your assistance greatly.

Thank you kindly.

Re: False pretenses/representation

Your description of the situation does not provide enough information to adequately assess whether any crime has been committed. On its face, I would say no. However, the future use of your information could potentially rise to the level of a criminal act. I would suggest that you contact your local law enforcement if you feel like a crime has been committed against you. My practice is concentrated in the area of defending the accused.

Regarding civil ramifications, it really just depends whether your information was used without your authorization and to your detriment.
