have had insuffenent checks in the past and not able to pay on them on a regular basis and have recently been charged with bogus check charges

Hopefully, your charges have been filed as misdemeanors. You should contact a criminal defense attorney to make arrangements with the District Attorney. Most often, attorneys are able to better communicate your needs, save you money and set you up on a payment plan for bogus check charges.
