Legal Question in Criminal Law in Oklahoma
What are my options for receiving a citation for petty theft if it was an accident?? I was shopping without a basket and didn't realize I stuck a $5 disk in my pocket to pick something else up to look at it. I payed for everything else, and as I left the security detector went off. I was honest and compliant. I'm wondering how serious this is and what I can do.

Your options are to take care of your citation. If you want to challenge it, then hire an attorney. Whether an accident or not, the prosecuting attorney will not see it that way.

You can take the case to trial. If the jury believes your version of events, you will be found not guilty.
