Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Oklahoma

Job Harassment/Discrimination

What other options might be available to me concerning ongoing harassment on job given that I have notified local management as well as contacted the EEOC about specific offenses ? Should I accept this as common to the retail industry and forget about further action ?

Re: Job Harassment/Discrimination

Employers have a duty to elimiate workplace harassment by other employees, and employers must also take steps to stop customers from harassing employees. However, like much law, the specific facts are critical. Filing a claim with the EEOC is one option; a lawsuit is another, which, in Oklahoma may be available even without first going through the EEOC.

Generally you should first stop and document everything you've done so far in terms of informing your employer (included dates, names, titles, etc.). Also document the harassment itself; when it happens, who, etc., and get a copy of your employer's policy manual (if there is one).

Then, contact a lawyer.
