My mother is an 85 year old widow of a honorably discharged World War II Vet. For her to receive Aid and Attendance from the VA, the VA Rep said she could legally set up an irrevokable trust for her assets and would then receive approximately $1,000 per month for in-home care, assisted living center or nursng home fees. Is it wise to place her money in an irrevokable trust to receive these benefits? Thank you very much.

Trust is always good. Question you need to ask VA to answer is: Who are the beneficiaries?
Is it your mother or is it her children?
