name change notification

we are trying to have my daughters name changed to her step fathers. biological father is dead and there is no paternal family in the usa, do we still have to post notice of name change in the newspaper?

Re: name change notification

Oklahoma law says you must make the publication into a newspaper authorized to make such notices. The court may waive this requirement "for good cause," which means you'll have to convince the judge of your reasoning. Otherwise the notice must only be placed one time, at least ten days prior to the hearing.
