Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

Child Custody

My husband and I are currently trying to divorce and we have a 4-year-old child together. We have always agreed that we would go for joint custody of her but when he served me with the papers 2 weeks ago, he is trying to go for sole custody and control of her. Now he is willing to give me joint custody but he still wants ''custodial control'' of her. What exactly does that mean? The way he explained it to me was that we still have joint custody of her but if we cannot decide on something for her together then he would make the final decision. To me, this still sounds like sole custody. I am a good mother, I see her more than he does, I pay for her daycare, I pay for clothes for her, etc... Would I be giving up custody if I agree to this?

Re: Child Custody

I would suggest seeing an attorney, custody is a very complex matter to discuss with a sentence or two answer. Also, you said you were served about two weeks ago, have you filed an answer to the petition? You have 20 days to file an Answer. Good Luck, let us know if we can help.
