child custody without marriage
my daughter has a 6 month old child and is not married to the babies father. how does she go about getting custody. i have talked to 2 attorneys and they didnt know how without divorce. all the articles i have read involve child custody in a divorce case. thank you

She automatically has custody by statute. If he wants custody, he has to prove paternity and then ask the Court, but as long as she is single and there is no order of a court specifically finding paternity, then she has custody.
I think that you talked to the wrong two Attys. Find someone who practices family law in your area.
