Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma
Cohabilitation in Oklahoma
I was just wondering if there was a law that that prohibited me from moving in with my boyfriend. We've been together for years now and I want to make sure it's right for me and for my son before getting married. I am the custodial parent and my ex does have regular standard visitation. We were never married and there's nothing in the order stating I can't move in with someone. Could custody be changed because of that reason alone? I'm a good mom and the guy I'm with is amazing. He adores my son to death. He's had some trouble in the past and was given a deffered sentence because he had someone steal his car so he could collect the insurance money on it. It's been 6 years since that and he has started the expungment process. It's not like he's a bad criminal just wasn't to smart in his younger days. Could that possibly hurt? Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated.

Presuming the decree you operate under now does not stop you from doing what you propose, you may be fine in doing it. The question you must ask is, will your ex find it wrong and file a petition to modify custody based on you being unfit and/or in the bests interests of the child.
