Do i contest this divorce?

my husband left me and has a new girlfriend. he left with alot of back bills i cant seem to catch up on. also took my cell phone and ran up the bill to $1200 and the phone to $1400. he says i can stay in our jointly mortgaged home if i pay half. i am on ssd and ssi, had to buy myself a car to get back and forth to the liver transplant center. i need one.i cant afford all these bills on top of utilies in his name, past due, and everything else. he is using a paralegal to do the papers up, i haven't seen them yet. do i need to contest, do i need legal help, how do i do this?
