Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma
Custody/Visitation
My husband is an alcoholic, a convicted felon (which I did not know until after we were married), and has a daughter in another state with whom he has only supervised visits. He has never paid a dime in child support and has not seen her in over five years. He is almost constantly mentally and sexually abusive to me, and we have a two year old daughter. I want to divorce to get my child away from him. I have three letters from witnesses to the abuse (one from my domestic violence counselor). I want full custody and I want him to have supervised visits because my daughter is not safe alone with him. She has never been alone with him in her whole life because I cannot trust him to make wise choices and protect her. With these letters, his background, and his history with his other child, what are my chances of getting what I ask for in this situation to keep my daughter safe? Do I have a chance? What should I bring with me to court besides the letters that testify to the abuse? Thank you for your help.

Re: Custody/Visitation
Do you have an attorney assisting you in this matter? If so, I would strongly suggest that you listen to his/her advice on what to bring to court. If you have not hired an attorneyI would consider doing so. Custody is a very difficult area of law to attempt without profesional help. Good luck and God Bless. -Bob-
