Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

Divorce without children or property

I have been married to an alcoholic for almost 5 years. I have a child at home, but we have no children together and do not own a home. Am I divorcing him due to the alcoholism. What, if anything, am I entitled to ask for in the divorce (i.e. monthly payment, retirement, etc.)? He makes more money than I do and I will struggle when he leaves. I am trying to determine if I need a lawyer or would be able to file it myself. If I am not entitled to anything, I know how to file and go to court on the uncontested divorce.

Thank You.

Re: Divorce without children or property

you are entitled to half of all marital property, and that includes retirement funds earned while together. You may be entitled to alimony underthe circumstances. Yes, you can do it by yourself, but you should sit down with an Atty first just to make sure!
