Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

divorce credit

I have been divorced for over six years, since then, my ex filed bankruptcy. She was granted the usual and has added the credit debt that shows in my name to her filing. The creditor refuses to take my name off this debt and yet the lawyer and the court allowed her to file the debt under bankruptcy. How I am still liable for this? It is ruining my credit

Re: divorce credit

The short answer is the creditor is not bound by the terms of your divorce decree. The creditor will go after whoever they can to get their money. If you have a liablity to the creditor they will be attempting to collect their money.

You might think about speaking to a local attorney and finding if there are any legal remedies availabe to you. Good Luck. -Bob-
