Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma
Divorce final Aug 29,2009. Was ordered to pay my ex $1.000 a mo for 4-1/2 yrs based on my salary at that time I wasjust laid off so am no longer able to afford $1,000 & can't afford to hire lawyer to go back to court to have it reduced or eliminated. How can I get out from these payments? Can I refuse & let her take me to court, she pay the fees or is there the possibility of going to jail for non-payment What roptions do I have?

Sticking you head in the sand is not going to make the problem go away. You can not just refuse to pay and expect anything good to come from it. You need to take the initiative and file a Motion to Modify. No modification order by the court can be effective until a Motion to Modify is filed with the court, so you want to get something on file asap.
If you wait for your ex to act, any number of things can happen. Unless your ex never pursues recovery of what is owed her (what are the chances of that happening?) you will be in worse shape by not taking any action.
