Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma
My ex-inlaws are nuts
I was recently divorced (10-99), in the divorce i was awarded my home, all personal property in my possession, and all the bills.
Shortly before my wife ran off, my in-laws had given us a washer and dryer. This set had belonged to my ex-wife's grandmother who was moved into a nursing home. Evidently, this set was entered on some sort of property inventory of the grandmother's with the Department of Human Resources when she went into the home.
Now apparently, my ex-in-laws dryer has quit and they want "their" dryer back. They have called me and harrassed me at my place of employment for a several weeks now and today informed that they are taking me to small claims court to get the dryer from me. Now, they say they only let us borrow it. My question is: Since I was awarded "all personal property in my possession" in the divorce, do they have any legal grounds to retrieve "their" dryer?

Re: My ex-inlaws are nuts
The divorce court only has authority to award title to property that is owned by one of the parties to a divorce. The issues to be determined in small claims court are: 1)did your inlaws have the authority to give you and your wife her grandmother's property (did they have grandma's permission or was it done at her request, etc), and 2)did they in fact give you and your wife the property or was it a loan?
There are other facts which could help or hurt your position, but they are to numerous to deal with here. If the property is important to you then you should consult with your attorney.
