Re: International Marriage
Thank you for your question. First I must admit that I am not familiar with the laws of Pakistan and would not know what the Government of Pakistan would require to constitute a marriage. Generally as between Nations, one Nation gives legal effect to the laws of another Nation. This is called comity and I would expect that a marriage made in the U.S. between persons who are competent to enter into a marriage contract and who have as documented by a certified copy of a marriage license would be given legal recognition in Pakistan. Marriages in Oklahoma are evidenced by a marriage license obtained from the County Court Clerks office, completed by the person performing the marriage and filed with the court clerk. Persons wishing to marry must present themselves in person to obtain the license. Assuming that they meet residence and age requirements they will receive a license which is incomplete until completed by the person performing the marriage. Incompetents including minors and others under a legal disability (ie. are already married to another) cannot contract a marriage. I hope this sufficiently satisfies your question.
