How would I go about getting legal documentation proving that my name was changed because my stepfather adopted me?? What kind of information would I need??

Was the name not changed on your birth certificate? Or is that what you are trying to do? You should be able to get a copy of the court's order or decree showing the adoption. However, adoption does not automatically change ones last name. The treatment of the child's name should be spelled out in the Petition to adopt.
