Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma
Legal parental information on school and other forms of child
I am divorced, we had two children. My ex-husband has remarried. His new wife is changing all of my daughters permanent records at school to say her name and not mine. So when I call to get info about my daughter, they say they can not speak with me because I am not listed on her records. Is this legal? What can I do about it? My ex had physical custody of both children. I have very open visitation rights. We live in the same town. My name appears on my daughters birth certificate and to my knowlegde she has not legally adopted my daughter? Could this be done without my knowledge? What are my rights?

State law provides that you are entitled to full access to all of your daughter's school and medical records. I would start by providing the school with a copy of your divorce decree and requesting that they correct their records. If this doesn't get the job done, you may file a motion with the divorce court seeking an order requiring your ex-husband to direct the school to make the changes.
